One of the easiest ways to completely transform the look and feel of your photos is by choosing the right backdrop. Whether you’re planning updated family photos, a milestone session, or branding headshots, your backdrop plays a huge role in the overall vibe of your images.
I offer a variety of backdrop colors and sizes to fit different styles, spaces, and session types. I’m breaking it all down here so you can confidently choose what works best for you.

Backdrop Sizes & What They Mean
Choosing the right size is just as important as choosing the color.
Small (53” wide)
Best for 1–2 people
Ideal for headshots, milestone sessions, and cake smashes
Great for tighter, more focused images
Easy for me to bring into homes or smaller spaces
Medium (86” wide)
Best for 1–4 people
Great for small families or sibling shots
Gives more room for movement and posing
A solid middle-ground option
Large (107” wide)
Best for 1–6 people
Perfect for full family sessions or groups
Allows for more natural, spread-out posing
Best option if you want variety in your gallery
🏡 In-Home Sessions vs. Events
In-Home Sessions: I bring small backdrops. Perfect for headshots, milestones, or cake smashes without needing a ton of space.
Events & Larger Setups: I can bring any size backdrop, so we can create a setup that fits your group and vision.
💡 How to Choose the Right Backdrop
If you’re stuck deciding, here are a few simple tips:
Think about your outfits
Neutrals = safe and timeless
Bold outfits = pair with simple backdrops
Simple outfits = you can go more fun with color
Consider your home decor (if printing photos)
You’ll love your images more if they match your space
Think about the mood
Light + airy → whites, creams, pastels
Warm + cozy → tan, gold, maroon
Bold + modern → black, navy, bubblegum
Group size matters
If you have more than 2 people, don’t go small unless you want tight, cropped shots

There’s no “wrong” choice; Just what feels most like you. If you’re unsure, I’m always happy to help you decide based on your outfits, session type, and overall vision.
At the end of the day, the backdrop should support your photos, not distract from what matters most: your people, your story, and those genuine moments you’ll want to remember forever.
